adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Dobby has found his people! His story: The little Dobby looks a bit skeptical into the camera. How should he know that he no longer needs to be afraid. Dobby is Jules' puppy. Jule and her four puppies were rescued from a desperate situation. Our animal welfare workers were called by the dog catchers and asked to take them and their four puppies in, as they were literally thrown out of an apartment. This sight was even too much for the dog catchers, who really have to endure a lot. But now the four puppies are in safety and Mama Jule has even found a home. Dobby, the only male dog in the family, is simply a little sweet and charming guy who has already wrapped people around his little paws in his foster home. With his big ears and eyes and that sweet snout, it's no wonder. Who can resist that look. Dobby loves people and enjoys being petted. He also gets along well with his fellow animals. Whether that also applies to cats, we don't know. Dobby currently measures 26 cm in height and weighs 3.5 kg. He will of course still grow, but will probably remain relatively small. Dobby is looking for people who don't expect anything from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a mishap shouldn't be held against him and Dobby should always be accompanied with a positive training style. It's probably also helpful that he loves treats very much 😉. He is already looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, lots of snuggling hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding puberty is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals and their owners upside down. From small cute babies, they become small to medium-sized rebels who also like to forget everything they've learned. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent – but loving – in training. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Ready for Dobby? He has already packed his little bag. He is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Of course, he has also already packed his EU pet passport. After a positive Dobby would be a good start. Thanks Fam. Heer! You have given Dobby his name and thus an identity. Current status: 11.05.

Stand: 11.05.2025

About Dobby

What life with Dobby looks like

Dobby is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
