Dobri

Male · Adult · 6 years

Some dogs don’t come with a little backpack—but rather with an entire suitcase full of impressions they haven’t yet learned how to process. Dobri is one such dog. Dobri is a sensitive and gentle dog who has been searching for his place in the world ever since he was a young pup. As a puppy, he came from Bulgaria to the Netherlands, but he never really felt at home anywhere. From the very beginning, he was insecure and quickly overwhelmed by everything that happened around him. In his previous home, this became increasingly difficult: he barked a lot, found it hard to be left alone, and was startled by almost every movement and sound. Despite the efforts of several trainers, peace and calm remained elusive, so it was with a heavy heart that we decided to give him a new chance through us. Currently, Dobri is staying with a foster family, where active work is being done to build his self-confidence and help him explore the world. He’s getting to know new places, occasionally taking bus rides, and practicing situations involving more people. This helps him gradually gain more experience and a sense of security. Here with us and in his foster home, we also see his other side—a gentle dog who genuinely wants to understand how the world works. He seeks comfort from people but does need time to get to know you. Once he feels safe, you’ll notice him relaxing more and more. He’s social toward other dogs and finds peace in their company. He enjoys going out together, but he quickly becomes overstimulated when things get too intense. With the right guidance, he’s growing a little bit more each day. Dobri doesn’t act out of mischief—rather, he acts out of stress. When he receives predictability, calmness, and clear guidance, space opens up within him, and you’ll see a dog who makes connections, observes carefully, and can even enjoy small things. He needs someone who will continue to guide him in this way, while clearly showing him just how much potential he has. For Dobri, we’re looking for a quiet and stable home with people who are truly willing to look deeply into who he is—people who understand that building trust takes time and are ready to give him that time. An environment low in stimuli and without young children, where he can discover at his own pace that the world can be safe—and even enjoyable. A stable, sociable female dog could provide additional support here and help him find even more relaxation. Dobri is zo’n hond. About Dobri

What life with Dobri looks like

Dobri is a small adult dog waiting at Stichting Animals Faith in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Animals Faith handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Animals Faith will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Animals Faith early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
