Döbrögi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Five dogs rescued from the flood were temporarily transferred to our care from Hajógyári Island. From the small group of rescued dogs, 3 returned to their owners, but 2 dogs (Döbrögi and Bumszli) remained in our care due to their poor health condition. Their owners gave them up for the sake of their recovery. The two well-adjusted pairs: the male, Döbrögi, was born in April 2017, a large mixed breed dog. His eyes are inflamed, he has an excessive hair loss, and he has several tumors. His treatment will take a long time, and probably several more surgeries are ahead. Döbrögi is used to people, very friendly and curious dog. He has never lived in a palace in his life, but he has received love, which is also visible on him. We would really like that after his recovery, he could finally have his own garden, maybe even a couch. In __NAME0's__ case, we do not insist only on indoor living, but he would certainly enjoy experiencing the warmth of home, being part of a family movie night or even a birthday party prepared for him. Döbrögi is vaccinated, neutered, and negative heartworm test, and can be adopted as a family member.

Öt árvíz elől mentett kutyus került átmenetileg gondozásunkba a Hajógyári szigetről. A kis mentett csapatból 3 kutyus visszakerült a gazdájához, de 2 kutyus (Döbrögi és Bumszli) rossz egészségügyi állapotuk miatt gondozásunkba maradtak. Gazdájuk a gyógyulások érdekében mondott le róluk.A két jól összeszokott párosból a kan, Döbrögi 2017. About Döbrögi

What life with Döbrögi looks like

Döbrögi is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Multiple tumors, eye inflammation, hair loss, requires ongoing medical treatment and possible surgeries

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Döbrögi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Döbrögi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Döbrögi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Döbrögi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Döbrögi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Döbrögi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Döbrögi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
