Doggie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 3 years

Doggie, a distant relative of the TV dog Scooby Doo from Greece, is a former stray, rehabilitated and available for adoption. He was found on the street and taken in. He is 3-4 years old, weighs 40 kg, and is a mixed breed Great Dane-Mastiff. He has been vaccinated and neutered (to protect against cancer and prostate issues, as neutering protects all male dogs and cats), with a health booklet and electronic ID. He is calm when traveling by car and when left alone at home. He loves people and food. He eats dry food. He has received positive training classes that he may continue for free and after adoption. He does not like it when another dog approaches him too closely, due to fear. Available within Attica, with an adoption contract, as a social pet companion and equal member of the family in a home that understands the long-term joy but also responsibility of adopting a pet (dog or cat). EL·Show original

About Doggie

What life with Doggie looks like

Doggie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Voice in Athens.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Doggie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Doggie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Voice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Doggie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Doggie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Voice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Doggie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Doggie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Voice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Doggie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
