Adopt Dogs needing a home

Mixed Breed · Unknown · 3 years

We believe in matching the right animal to the right home, as the needs of the animal are our top priority. If we find a match you’ll be invited for an introduction. So that you have a good chance to get to know your new friend, there’s usually a minimum of two introductions (three if you have an existing dog), and sometimes further introductions for any dogs that may need additional support settling into a new home. Because each dog is different and special in their own unique way, this process can vary from dog to dog. Once the introductions have been completed and we know we’ve found the perfect match, we will allocate you a home checker who will visit you at your home. How do I take my new companion home? Following your successful home visit, you can make an appointment to collect your new friend by emailing us at , or calling the Dog Team on . When you collect your dog, we will ask you to pay the fee plus any additional charges. Dog adoption fees vary depending on the age of the dog, but range between £150 and £350. All dogs that leave Foal Farm have had a full medical health check by a vet and are vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, treated for fleas and wormed. The cost to us for vet fees alone is between £230 and £350 for each dog, so any additional donation you are able to give is greatly appreciated. Your chosen dog will be checked over in front of you and you will be given a pack that includes the vaccination certificate, health record plus advice on feeding and anything else of note. You can purchase accessories for your new dog in our pet shop at the Farm. We are always available should you need our help or have any questions once you take your new friend home – we’re only a phone call away. About Dogs needing a home

What life with Dogs needing a home looks like

Dogs needing a home is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Foal Farm Animal Rescue in Biggin Hill.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dogs needing a home, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dogs needing a home?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Foal Farm Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dogs needing a home on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dogs needing a home if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Foal Farm Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dogs needing a home already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dogs needing a home isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Foal Farm Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dogs needing a home and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
