adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Dolly has found her people! Her story: Dolly was abandoned by her owners at an old mine about a year ago. Our team member found her there completely overwhelmed and took her to a large fenced-in property where she now lives and is cared for with many other dogs. However, she is also left alone there, as someone only comes by once a day to feed the dogs and briefly attend to them. This is not the right place for our human-loving and cuddly Dolly, which is why we want to find her a suitable home quickly. Dolly is approximately 2 years old. With her shoulder height of about 60 cm and a body weight of 34 kg, she belongs to the larger breeds of dogs. Her hazel eyes radiate so much love that one could almost get lost in them. Dolly loves the company of humans. She loves being stroked and is always most comfortable with her people. At her age, she is still quite active, but she also quickly settles down. She gets along well with her fellow animals, but she tends to prefer the company of humans. Children could also be part of Dolly's family, but they should be well-behaved and familiar with dog handling. We assume that Dolly is a Cane Corso mix. The Cane Corso is generally a more calm, composed, but also self-assured dog that requires a sensitive but clear pack leadership. His people are everything to him, so Dolly could also develop a more or less pronounced protective instinct in her new home, which belongs to experienced hands. In the federal states of Bavaria and Brandenburg, the Cane Corso is listed on the Rasseliste category 2. To enter these states and be exempt from the leash and muzzle requirement, a behavioral assessment is required. An entry into Switzerland is generally not possible for her. Dolly travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated. She is available for adoption. Have we piqued your interest? Then feel free to contact us! Thank you, Monika V.! You named Dolly and gave her the start of a new life. As of: 11.05.

Stand: 11.05.2025

About Dolly

What life with Dolly looks like

Dolly is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dolly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dolly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dolly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dolly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dolly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dolly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dolly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
