Start / Animals / Dogs / Male dog / DonutDonut05.2025. Breed: American Bulldog Mix. Gender: male dog, unneuteredAge: born ca. 2022Shoulder height: ca. 40-45 cm Categories: Dogs, male dog, animals Description Donut is actually a sensitive one, even though one wouldn't expect that from his breed. He needs a little time to warm up to new people, but then he enjoys being petted and is always up for anything. He is a bundle of energy and has a lot of power. He is people-oriented, with a desire to please and work with his people. Unfortunately, the situation here overloads him, and this is evident in his behavior. He reacts strongly to other dogs and is really stressed here, constantly under stress and releasing his frustration in inappropriate places. However, when he is on the premises and away from the hustle and bustle, he is much more approachable and reacts much less to other dogs. Then he looks to the person and enjoys the bottom petting, wiggling his whole rear end. He bonds very closely with his people, and through his sensitivity, he picks up on every mood of the owner or handler. Therefore, it is essential for him to come to a quiet, sovereign, and stable home. Donut is not rehomed to children. Since he has not yet had much stability and training, time should be planned here first to build up the basics. Donut is one of the listed dogs. The new owners must therefore obtain a knowledge certificate and then complete a behavioral assessment with Donut. We are happy to support in the preparation. Donut05.2025. About Donut

What life with Donut looks like

Donut is a adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Fulda in Fulda.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Donut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Donut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Fulda handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Donut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Donut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Fulda will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Donut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Donut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Fulda early rather than rehoming privately; they know Donut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
