Donut

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Donut was found as a stray and could barely walk. He was emaciated, exhausted, and in a state that showed he had not been cared for by anyone for a long time. According to the current status, it is assumed that he was thrown out of a car and left to fend for himself. Investigations are still ongoing. Today, when you see Donut, it's hard to believe what this dog must have experienced. His gaze is calm, attentive, and friendly. He doesn't belong to the dogs that immediately rush towards strangers. He takes his time, observes first, and then decides for himself when the right moment has come. Once you gain his trust, he reveals an incredibly pleasant companion who enjoys being close to his people. Donut currently lives without problems with two other dogs and shows social and balanced behavior towards them. Whether he knows cats is currently unknown. With his 38 kilograms, Donut is no small dog. At the same time, he radiates a calmness that is rarely found. He doesn't need constant activity and doesn't push himself forward. A joint walk, a quiet place in the garden or just the feeling of finally arriving seems to make him happy. For Donut, we are looking for a rather quiet, rural home with people who give him time to build trust and respect his calm, somewhat cautious nature so he can settle into his new home accordingly. He will also have to learn many things. A positively working dog school can help gain security together and strengthen the bond further. Donut is chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and neutered. He travels with an EU pet passport and will be placed after a positive pre-check, protection contract, and deposit. Many thanks to the community that gave Donut his name and thus gave him back a piece of identity. Status: 03.07.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Donut

What life with Donut looks like

Donut is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Donut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Donut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Donut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Donut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Donut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Donut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Donut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
