Dora

Female Β· Young Β· 2 years

Dora is a sweet and bouncy girl with so much love to give! She has lots of energy and gets very excited in new places, and once she settles she'll have a keen sniff around. Dora can get very eager to meet other dogs, occasionally becoming vocal and wriggly, but greets them nicely and enjoys a good off-lead play! She has been stressed at times when left alone in her kennel, so she'll need some continued support and guidance around this to help her adjust. Dora does very well being handled during grooming and vet checks, seeming comfortable and using the opportunity to receive lots of fuss and cuddles. Dora eats well and loves to play with her treats, although she hasn't shown much interest in toys. She's can get a little spooked around larger vehicles and will often look to her handler for comfort, but generally copes well with traffic. Dora is a friendly young Springer x Beagle cross who is able to share her home with children of pre-school age, provided they are happy with her being a little bouncy from time to time! Dora would benefit from living with another dog, pending a successful pre-adoption mix, and due to the tendencies of her breed we would not recommend homing her with any other animals. She is coming along very well with her basic training and this should be continued in her new home. A private garden is not necessary for Dora as long as their are some local communal spaces for her to let off some steam, as she's very energetic! She doesn't like being left alone so her adopters should be willing to spend lots of time with her, and she'll be very happy greeting lots of visitors in the home.

About Dora

What life with Dora looks like

Dora is a young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
