Dorel

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Dorel has found his home. Dorel is a particularly gentle and social tomcat. His life began with around 20 other cats at an abandoned house on the edge of the forest. At that time he was still a young kitten. Dorel regularly took care of the cats living there and fed them. When the house was eventually demolished, he took the little cat with him so it wouldn't be left to its own devices. Initially Dorel meets strangers with a small dose of uncertainty. However once he has gained trust he shows his loving side. He is affectionate, clingy and enjoys being close to people very much. He gets on well with other cats and lives harmoniously with them. Dogs have not been tested so far. For Dorel a quiet home with lots of love and patience was just what the doctor ordered - text and exactly that he has now found. We are delighted that Dorel is now moving into his own home and wish him and his family many happy years together. A heartfelt thank you to patron Sabine Duplois, who gave Dorel his name and thus made an important contribution to his

About Dorel

What life with Dorel looks like

Dorel is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dorel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dorel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dorel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dorel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dorel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dorel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dorel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
