Dori

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Dori (born 05/2026) is a sweet little female dog who quickly wins hearts with her charm. At just a few months old, she is still at the beginning of her journey and has a lot to discover. She already appears a bit more mature than her companion Henna and brings a good dose of curiosity. Since October 24th, Dori has been living in a foster home in Porta Westfalica. Together with Henna, she is starting her life as a house dog. Both are very playful and get along well with each other. Dori is a bit more cautious than the more mischievous Henna, but of course, she is still a young dog who needs to learn about the world. The two little dogs surprised their foster family upon arrival with their very manageable size - the already purchased harnesses and leashes were promptly too big! Walking on a harness and leash is therefore new territory for Dori. She also needs to learn the basics of dog behavior. She is already making good progress with house training: if an accident happens, she reliably uses her pee pads. With her current shoulder height of about 26 cm, Dori is probably almost fully grown. She is looking for people who enjoy lovingly accompanying a young dog, teaching her everything important and giving her the necessary security with patience. Dori is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive preliminary inspection. Due to her age, she has not yet been spayed. Wearing a safety harness is necessary when picking up the dog. Such a harness (3-strap safety harness) can be purchased for only 25 €.

Dori (geb.

About Dori

What life with Dori looks like

Dori is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dori, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dori?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dori on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dori if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dori already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dori isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dori and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
