Doro

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Doro (born 05/2026) was rescued along with her mother Rosie and siblings Carlo and Lisa by our Romanian animal welfare partners from a remote road. The four are currently living on the animal welfare organization's grounds. Unfortunately, the little ones have no opportunity to experience and gather impressions outside their limited environment on the remote grounds. It would be great if they could spend their socialization phase in a varied environment with loving, consistent guidance and upbringing. Doro is still a bit shy around people. During our visit, my colleagues were welcomed curiously and kindly. The joy wasn't as great when practicing with collar and leash, but with good persuasion, this new exercise was mastered well. If you have the time and desire for the adventure of a puppy and have the necessary patience to explain an unknown world to Doro, we look forward to your inquiry. Doro is looking for a home with understanding people who can lovingly introduce her to all the unknown things of everyday life. She will need time and guidance to find her way in the world that is unknown to her. Her desired home is more rural or in a quiet residential environment. She would not mind having an existing confident dog companion who shows her how the world works and of course also plays with her. Her dog parents should be happy and extensive in nature to physically and mentally exhaust her. With love, patience, and clear, structured guidance, Doro will definitely be a great companion in all aspects of life. Doro is vaccinated, chipped, and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive preliminary inspection. Due to her age, she has not yet been spayed. General note on our protégés: Our dogs in Romania are regularly visited so we can always re-evaluate their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us very much to convey a possible good picture of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment - with new people, new processes, and new impressions - can also show itself differently. This is quite normal and is part of every change process. Many dogs even open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible in the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee for every behavior in the new environment. They should provide orientation and show how the dog presents itself in the shelter - and what potential is in him. We are convinced: With patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and develop positively.

Doro (geb.

About Doro

What life with Doro looks like

Doro is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Doro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Doro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Doro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Doro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Doro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Doro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Doro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
