top of pageDOROTHYShareShe's hoping there's no place like home! Meet Dorothy, a beautiful 12-year-old little lady with a very big personality. Dorothy came to Pawpurrs after being found living in a garden in Hindley. A lovely couple had been feeding her, but when they scanned her microchip, we discovered she had been registered to an address nearby. Sadly, the contact details were no longer valid, and the person living at the address had been there for around 10 years. We don’t know whether Dorothy was lost, abandoned or left behind, but somewhere along the way she was left without the care she deserved. Dorothy is a sweet girl who absolutely loves her food although she will make it very clear that her dinner is hers! She also craves human attention and affection. At 12 years old, Dorothy is looking for a quiet retirement home where she can finally settle and be someone’s special girl. She needs to be the only pet in the home, with no cats or dogs, and preferably no young children. She would suit someone who can give her patience, love and plenty of time to settle. Older cats are so often overlooked, but Dorothy has so much love left to give. Could you be the person to give Dorothy the peaceful, loving home she deserves? If you think you could be the right fit for Dorothy, please fill out our adoption enquiry form, and get in touch with us.bottom of page

About Dorothy

What life with Dorothy looks like

Dorothy is a large senior mixed breed cat waiting at PawPurrs Halfway House in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dorothy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dorothy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PawPurrs Halfway House handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dorothy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dorothy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PawPurrs Halfway House will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dorothy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dorothy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PawPurrs Halfway House early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dorothy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
