Dottie

Labrador Retriever Β· Female Β· Senior Β· 9 years

Labrador Around 11 years Dottie came in to FODDR at 9 Years old after just having a litter of pups. She was seriously overweight and was immediately put on a strict diet using veterinary diet food. Dottie is a very happy girl and is always smiling. She is super friendly and loves to meet new people. She loves her walks and loves to charge around with her Labrador friends and a Cavalier that thinks she a lab. They are often to be seen doing zoomies around the garden. Although Dottie loves to play and enjoys her walks her weight means she tires easily. However, after a quick power nap she is back at it again. Although Dottie is 'older' she most definitely doesn't know it. She is catching up on her teen years and causing mischief where she can. Dottie's main purpose in life is to get as many chewy treats as possible. Dottie absolutely loves other dogs, she is a girl that needs to be part of a gang. She truly is the friendliest lab you will meet.

About Dottie

What life with Dottie looks like

Dottie is a senior labrador retriever dog waiting at Forest of Dean Dog Rescue in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dottie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dottie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Forest of Dean Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dottie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dottie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Forest of Dean Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dottie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dottie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Forest of Dean Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dottie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
