adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Drago has found his luck! His story: The beautiful Drago with the sweet curly ears was rescued together with his mother and his sister from the public shelter in Zalau, where unfortunately animals are still being killed. Now he is ready to conquer the world! At 37 cm and 8 kg, he is currently still small, but he is expected to grow to a medium size. Drago could be a mix of a herding dog. At first, Drago is a bit shy, but he warms up quickly. New situations overwhelm him at the beginning. But he loves being stroked and is ready for treats. He is a little explorer who curiously explores his surroundings. He gets along well with other dogs, but he has not been tested with cats. Even though herding dog traits are only a guess, Drago has the characteristics of an active dog. This means: One should expect that he needs both mental and physical stimulation. Dog sports like agility or mantrailing, as well as simple search games and long walks can keep him well occupied. Drago is still a puppy and has a lot to learn. House training, leash manners, sit, stay, and the like are still unfamiliar to him. And leaving him alone also needs to be practiced and should be done in the first year of life, with short and gradually increasing training. Puberty will put all involved to the test. Around the sixth month of life, Drago may suddenly forget what he has learned and test his limits. Humor, calmness, and especially consistency are the keys to mastering this phase together. For Drago, we are looking for patient, active people who give him time to settle in and then, after an appropriate adjustment period, start off with him. A visit to dog training classes can also help you with any possible hurdles. Drago travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, together with his EU pet passport, to his new home. Stand: 01.10. But also a foster home would be a good start to a happy dog life. Thank you, Daniela R.! With your nametag sponsorship, you have paved the way for Drago to a happy dog life. Stand: 01.10.

Stand: 01.10.2025

About Drago

What life with Drago looks like

Drago is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Drago, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Drago?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Drago on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Drago if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Drago already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Drago isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Drago and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
