adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Dragu is being taken in by a sanctuary! His story: Dragu sits in his cramped pen with big, sad eyes and looks at us uncertainly. As if asking if we can help and get him out there. We have promised that we will find him some wonderful people and that he will soon be on his way… Dragu is estimated to be around 2.5-3 years old and has a medium size of approximately 55cm shoulder height. His fur is extremely beautiful, in fantastic tricolor colors. He is a real looker. His puberty is already behind him. Dragu is a young male dog, in the best age to discover the world. Dragu was brought into the shelter together with Dots. We suspect that they lived together on the street and were caught by the dog catchers. They could be part of the former group of Norchen, Lio, Noa, and Einstein, as they all look a little similar. Dots had the great fortune and was already allowed to move into his home in Germany. There, he blossoms every day and leaves his fear behind. The same we wish for the wonderful Dragu. Because now he was left alone in the shelter… Dragu is still very fearful. Therefore, we are looking for a quiet, more rural home, preferably with a well-fenced garden, where he can lie and sun himself. Dragu is searching for sensitive and experienced people who will not expect much from him at first and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is a young dog and still has a lot to learn. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks and many snuggling hours. Children should already be old enough and know how to handle dogs with respect and responsibility. Dragu should always be allowed to set his own pace and decide what is doable for him or not.

About Dragu

What life with Dragu looks like

Dragu is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dragu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dragu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dragu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dragu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dragu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dragu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dragu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
