Adopt Draven

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Draven was taken in by a small animal shelter where his chances for a new beginning were very slim. Today, he has completed his journey from Hungary and is waiting in a foster home in Dortmund, where he can be met at any time. Draven is a loving and sympathetic dog who doesn’t have too many high expectations. He is quiet and has a pleasant temperament, which makes it easy to like him. The basics of dog training, such as the Hunde-ABC, still need to be built upon and must be continued in his new home. Walking on a leash still poses a challenge for him and stresses him out. Maintaining distance, especially when food is involved, is something he still needs to learn. But he wants to please and shows a willingness to learn. He is house-trained, but under great stress, he may have small accidents. He gets along well with fellow animals and shows social and friendly behavior when interacting with other dogs. For Draven, we are looking for a loving home with people who want a loyal and uncomplicated companion by their side. He wants to belong, enjoy closeness, and fill his new home with joy. Those who give him a chance will gain a wonderful lifelong companion. Please only apply for a dog if you can adopt him in a timely manner! Foster homes are not long-term accommodation options—foster homes cannot reserve dogs for several weeks or even months. A quick move into the permanent home is important for the dogs, as they are settling in and a later change can be more difficult. Additionally, foster home placements are urgently needed because many dogs in Hungary are waiting to take his place. Many thanks for your understanding and support in the interest of the dogs!

Draven wurde von einem kleinen Tierheim übernommen, wo seine Chancen auf einen Neuanfang sehr schlecht waren. Heute hat er die Reise aus Ungarn bereits hinter sich und wartet in einer Pflegestelle in Dortmund, wo er jederzeit kennengelernt werden kann. Draven ist ein lieber sowie sympathischer Hund, der keine allzu hohen Ansprüche stellt. Er ist ruhig und hat ein angenehmes Temperament, was es einem wirklich leicht macht, ihn zu mögen. Das Hunde-ABC und die Basics sind noch ausbaufähig und müssen im neuen Zuhause weiter mit ihm trainiert werden. An der Leine zu laufen fällt ihm noch schwer und stresst ihn. Auch Distanz einzuhalten, gerade wenn Lebensmittel im Spiel sind, muss er noch lernen. Aber er möchte gefallen und zeigt sich lernwillig. Stubenrein ist er, nur unter großem Stress passieren ihm kleine Unfälle. Mit Artgenossen ist er gut verträglich und er zeigt sich im Umgang mit anderen Hunden sozial und umgänglich. Für Draven suchen wir ein liebevolles Zuhause bei Menschen, die sich einen treuen und unkomplizierten Gefährten an ihrer Seite wünschen. Er möchte dazugehören, Nähe genießen und sein neues Zuhause mit Freude füllen. Wer ihm eine Chance gibt, gewinnt einen wunderbaren Begleiter fürs Leben. Bitte bewerbt euch nur für einen Hund, wenn ihr ihn auch zeitnah adoptieren könnt! Pflegestellen sind keine langfristigen Unterbringungsorte – die Pflegestellen können Hunde nicht über mehrere Wochen oder gar Monate „reservieren“. Für die Hunde ist zudem ein schneller Umzug ins endgültige Zuhause wichtig, da sie sich zunehmend auf der Pflegestelle einleben, was einen späteren Wechsel erschweren kann und nicht notwendig ist, wenn ein Zuhause gefunden ist. Außerdem werden die Pflegestellenplätze dringend benötigt, denn es warten viele Hunde in Ungarn, die dann nachrücken können. Vielen Dank für euer Verständnis und eure Unterstützung im Sinne der Hunde! RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_bda10d81"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_aeae5c6d");

About Draven

What life with Draven looks like

Draven is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Draven, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Draven?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Draven on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Draven if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Draven already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Draven isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Draven and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
