Adopt Drogon

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 7 years

Born in 2019, Drogon is a large dog, a mix of a Canary dog. In shelter conditions, he is an ideal dog who does not show aggression towards shelter staff or volunteers. To strangers, he may inspire respect not only by his size but also by barking. He also does not like forward and exaggerated reactions from them, as he is a dog that needs time to trust a specific person. In the summer of 2024, Drogon had an unsuccessful adoption episode and after six weeks he was back in the shelter, which only confirms that this is a dog that requires skilled handling. He is a great dog for guarding a well-secured property. This is how he lived before coming to us, and the previous adoption confirmed that he is perfectly at ease outdoors, on a territory that he can patrol. He will therefore fulfill his role as a guard dog perfectly. Drogon is a dog for conscious and responsible people, and the future owner should have experience in handling a dog of the Mastiff type. He has no problem accepting another dog. Due to his size, we are looking for a home without small children. Drogon will not be given to an apartment.

Urodzony w 2019 roku Drogon to duży psiak, mix doga kanaryjskiego. Jest on świetnym psem do pilnowania terenu dobrze zabezpieczonej posesji.

About Drogon

What life with Drogon looks like

Drogon is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Drogon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Drogon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Drogon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Drogon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Drogon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Drogon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Drogon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
