Dudus

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Approx. 5 years old (born approx. June 2, 2021), 42 cm, male, neutered—not suitable for children, cat-friendly! Currently in foster care in KT BE Dudus—the charming heartbreaker with giant ears is looking for his forever home 🐾 Update from July 2026: For the past week, Dudus has been living at his foster home in Switzerland. Every day, he makes small progress and is slowly beginning to understand that no one means him harm anymore. He’s still cautious and reserved—but given a little time, he’s increasingly revealing his loving nature. On the leash, Dudus already walks beautifully, and he also handles car rides without any problems. Unfortunately, we don’t know his past. What we do know, however, is that it probably wasn’t a happy one. That’s why we’re hoping this little guy can finally find a home where he’ll feel truly welcomed—with people who won’t rush him but instead show him, with patience, understanding, and lots of love, just how wonderful a dog’s life can be. We’re looking for a quiet, rural home for Dudus. He gets along well with smaller dogs, but larger dogs still make him feel uneasy. Due to his insecurity, we’d prefer not to place him in a family with children. If you give Dudus the time he needs, he’ll become a loyal, grateful companion who’ll give his human all his heart. Who will give this brave little fellow the chance for a fresh start? ❤️ Background: Dudus is a very special little dog. Although his previous life wasn’t always fair to him and his former owner simply gave him away, he’s retained his sunny disposition. He’s an incredibly lovable dog who now longs for nothing more than stability, peace, and a safe haven. This sweet guy loves to sleep in bed in the evening, jump onto laps, and—whenever the opportunity arises—steal a tasty treat from the table as a little gourmet. At the shelter, Dudus shows himself to be social and shares his room nicely with other dogs and even a cat. But deep down, he has one big wish: He’d love to be the only pampered prince in the house, enjoying undivided attention and all the love all to himself. Oh, and did we mention that he’s the proud owner of the biggest ears in the entire shelter? They give him a distinctive, trusting gaze that’s simply impossible to resist! ❤️ Who’d like to give this magical treasure the cozy basket and forever home he so richly deserves? Video June 26

About Dudus

What life with Dudus looks like

Dudus is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dudus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dudus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dudus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dudus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dudus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dudus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dudus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
