Dukat is a dog who arrived at our shelter from a farm. He was surrendered because the people who had him simply feared him. Unfortunately, his story is a testament to human failure – a failure that left a mark on his psyche. Dukat associates humans primarily with pain and fear. We know he lived in a shed and was fed by someone who entered with a fork – that speaks for itself. When he arrived at our animal shelter, we couldn’t even enter his kennel for a long time. Every one of our movements was a threat to him. Today, we can say more – Dukat has taken a huge step forward. He allows selected individuals to take him on walks, he allows being petted, and he clearly enjoys the sight of those he already knows. This is still a cautious relationship, but a very real and building one. Contact with new people still causes him anxiety, and in stressful situations, he may react aggressively. This is not a dog for everyone – Dukat needs a special person. Someone who can read the dog’s signals, respects his boundaries, and will build a relationship step by step. We are looking for a home with awareness, patience, no children, with appropriate security, and an incredibly valuable relationship. We believe that somewhere there is someone who will look at Dukat not as a threat but as a dog who was wronged – and who deserves a second chance.

Dukat to pies, który trafił do nas z gospodarstwa. Został oddany, ponieważ osoby, u których przebywał, po prostu się go bały. Niestety, jego historia to przykład ogromnego ludzkiego zawodu – zawodu, który odcisnął piętno na jego psychice. Dukat kojarzy człowieka przede wszystkim z bólem i lękiem. Wiemy, że mieszkał w szopie i był karmiony przez osobę, która wchodziła do niego z widłami - to mówi samo za siebie. Gdy przyjechał do naszego schroniska, przez długi czas nie mogliśmy nawet wejść do jego boksu. Każdy nasz ruch był dla niego zagrożeniem. Dziś możemy powiedzieć coś więcej - Dukat zrobił ogromny krok do przodu. Pozwala się zabierać na spacery wybranym osobom, pozwala się głaskać i wyraźnie cieszy się na widok tych, których już zna. To wciąż ostrożna relacja, ale bardzo prawdziwa i budująca. Kontakt z nowymi osobami nadal budzi w nim niepokój, a w sytuacjach stresowych może reagować agresją. To nie jest pies dla każdego - Dukat potrzebuje wyjątkowej osoby. Kogoś, kto potrafi czytać sygnały psa, uszanuje jego granice i będzie budować relację krok po kroku. Szukamy domu świadomego, cierpliwego, bez dzieci, z odpowiednim zabezpieczeniem i niezwykle wartościową relację. Wierzymy, że gdzieś jest ktoś, kto spojrzy na Dukata nie jak na zagrożenie, ale jak na psa, który został skrzywdzony – i któremu warto dać drugą szansę.
