Duke

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten · 4 months

Duke arrived at the shelter through a free cat program. He arrived with his sisters. Duke is a shy kitten when he doesn't know people. Once he trusts you, he's a real love bomb. He prefers to come to you to ask for cuddles because it reassures him and stresses him less. When he's comfortable, he doesn't hesitate to rub against your hands to ask for even more pets. I like / I don't like: Duke loves softness and is a big thinker! He can sit and meditate while watching his environment for long minutes. He's also a playful kitten who loves to play with his little mouse. He's also a big foodie who never says no to a treat. Mr. is clean. Duke gets along well with other cats but hasn't been tested with dogs yet. He's still a baby who's ready to learn. A family without young children will be requested because Duke might get scared. However, he won't hurt the children.

About Duke

What life with Duke looks like

Duke is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at APAA Trégrom in France.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Duke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Duke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. APAA Trégrom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Duke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Duke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — APAA Trégrom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Duke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Duke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with APAA Trégrom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Duke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
