Duke

Male · Puppy · 5 months

Duke is a charming boy and is easy to fall in love with. He can be quite independent at times and is quite content amusing himself by playing with his toys. He is slowly building up time being left and the maximum at the moment is 2 hours. Duke is fine with car travel but has only been doing shorter journeys to start off with. He will be fine living in a home with children of primary age and above, as long as they don’t mind a bouncy dog. Duke suffers with a medical condition relating to his heart. This will be discussed in detail with potential adopters. Please keep in mind, that adopters will need to be in a good financial position to support and manage his condition throughout his life. Introducing Duke, our gorgeous 4-month-old Springer Spaniel who is looking for a fun and adventurous family to live with. He is a bright and loving boy who is doing really well in foster. His house training is doing great, and he will let you know when he wants to go out to relieve himself. He is very responsive to training, which is great benefit for his developement. Duke does enjoy socialising with other dogs and could live with a dog already established in the home. Due to his chase drive, he is unable to love with cats and small furries.

About Duke

What life with Duke looks like

Duke is a small puppy/kitten dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Duke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Duke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Duke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Duke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Duke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Duke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Duke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
