DUNIE

Mixed Breed · Female

Dunie’s story is one of the saddest you can imagine. She was found just after being hit by a car. Volunteers immediately took her in and rushed her to the vet, as she had sustained an injury to her hind leg. An X-ray revealed a fractured femur that required surgery. After several weeks of recovery, Dunie had finally found a forever family and was about to join them—when the vets discovered ulcers in her mouth that didn’t go away despite antibiotic treatment. She’s currently on cortisone, and her mouth is much better now. The vets are searching for a treatment that could spare her from having to take cortisone for life—or at least for the long term. Nevertheless, we’re still giving this little beauty a chance, even though her diagnosis remains somewhat unclear, because more than anything, we’d love for her to leave the shelter behind. Dunie is a true sweetheart—a gentle, kind, and calm cat who absolutely loves human company. The shelter environment is a constant source of stress for her, which isn’t helping her healing process. She needs a wonderful family who’ll accept her—with any veterinary issues she might have—and shower her with all the love in the world as an exclusively indoor cat. It’s precisely in such a setting that Dunie will feel safe and truly happy. We dare to hope that this family exists and will reach out to us soon.

FR·Show original

About DUNIE

What life with DUNIE looks like

DUNIE is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Association Kahlua in association kahlua.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting DUNIE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DUNIE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Kahlua handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DUNIE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DUNIE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Kahlua will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is DUNIE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DUNIE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Kahlua early rather than rehoming privately; they know DUNIE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
