Dustin

Male · Adult · 4 years

DUSTIN – mixed breed pasteveckého psa, rok narození 2022. In the first week at the shelter, he was very fearful, in evident stress from the new environment and people. During the initial contact and when taken out of the kennel run on a leash, he cowered in fear and tucked his tail. He was quite confused on the leash, spinning around, but fortunately never reacted aggressively to the shelter staff. Dustin is a very sensitive dog; he needs to be introduced to new things and people gradually. After two weeks, he had already gained some trust towards us, coming to us for treats, but he is still not ready for walking outside the shelter grounds with volunteers. He behaves non-confrontationally with other dogs, and the presence of another dog tends to calm him down. He is accustomed to living in a pack with other dogs. 5/2026 Dustinek is still cautious, now communicating better with us but still cautiously. We are happy that he greets us in the morning with wagging his tail, looking forward to walks, but at any moment, he can be startled by something unexpected and run off with all his might. Companion at the shelter is Lolinka, they are each other’s support. A new owner will need to gradually build a relationship with Dustin through repeated visits. Dustin not only intimidates someone with his appearance but also with his delicate nature; he is a cíťa…. He loves other dogs very much, is very friendly, and the company of another dog would greatly benefit him.

DUSTIN – kříženec pasteveckého psa, rok narození 2022 První týden v útulku byl velmi bázlivý, v evidentním stresu z nového prostředí a lidí.

About Dustin

What life with Dustin looks like

Dustin is a large adult dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dustin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dustin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dustin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dustin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dustin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dustin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dustin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
