Dusya (Дуся)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

This is our Dusya — a suffering but beautiful dog. She was hit by a car, and her hind legs got under the wheels. The driver didn't even notice what happened, and ran over her legs several times. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to fully save them: part of them had to be amputated. Now Dusya's hind legs look like stumps, but this in no way prevents her from living a full life. Every day Dusya walks in special little boots that are worn on her toes, and moves just like a normal dog. She has a strong character: she doesn't like cats and doesn't get along very well with other dogs. Dusya is a loner who loves only people. She loves attention when she is petted, kissed, played with, or given treats. She needs a family without other animals. If it is an apartment, it is preferable to have the first floor, or a private sector where she will always be in the house. It is necessary to regularly monitor her hind stumps so that they do not rub and get injured. Dusya is an incredible dog who deserves happiness. Part of her life has already been taken, now she is waiting for a loving family that will give her warmth and care.

UK·Show original

About Dusya (Дуся)

What life with Dusya (Дуся) looks like

Dusya (Дуся) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Dnipro in Ukraine.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dusya (Дуся), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dusya (Дуся)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Dnipro handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dusya (Дуся) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dusya (Дуся) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Dnipro will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dusya (Дуся) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dusya (Дуся) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Dnipro early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dusya (Дуся) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
