Dwalin

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 3 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Dwalin has found a home! His story: Baia Mara, Romania. In a private foster home in Baia Mare, three beautiful puppies, three real treasures, are waiting for the great chance to leave Romania. Of course, we are determined not to rest until we know the puppies are safe and have found a place with loving people who will care for and love them, showing them how wonderful life as a family dog can be. Dwalin is still a bit reserved around humans at the moment, but who can blame him – he surely hasn't had many good experiences with humans as an unwanted, small street dog. And the cute, little male puppy will surely build new trust when he moves into a loving home. Dwalin is reserved but loves playing with his siblings. His fur is soft and black as night. His sweet, playful face gives him a particularly lively and cheerful appearance. With hopeful eyes, he looks into his future. Dwalin is only about 12 weeks old and will likely keep his small size. Unfortunately, Dwalin doesn't have a tail and therefore cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Of course, Dwalin will quickly settle into his new home, although of course he has no experience with life as a house dog and knows little about house training and leash manners. But Dwalin is a very lively little male puppy. With lots of patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement, he will learn the entire puppy 1×1 class quickly. After the adjustment period, Dwalin will be happy to visit a positively working dog training class. In a few months, Dwalin will enter puberty, which will bring everything he has learned so far into disarray. Rules will be questioned, and boundaries will be retested. But with a loving and consistent upbringing by his adopters, the little puppy will emerge from this phase well-raised and self-assured, and will faithfully and reliably accompany his family in all activities. We are very happy that Dwalin and his siblings have developed so well and now wish for loving people who will take him in with love and patience, giving him a family connection, a warm dog bed, beautiful walks, and – very important for a puppy – plenty of contact with fellow animals. We would also be very happy about a foster home for the little puppy. We thank Birgit S. very warmly for naming the little Dwalin!. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Dwalin

What life with Dwalin looks like

Dwalin is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dwalin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dwalin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dwalin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dwalin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dwalin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dwalin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dwalin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
