Dzidka

Mixed Breed · Female

Dzidka arrived at the foundation from Chełm, and currently lives in the temporary home and is looking for Dzidka to be a sweetie, a more than 7-year-old cat who came to us in October. The first days she spent under the furniture, coming out only at night, but after a few days she felt safe and bonded with the other two temporary residents. She also accepted the dog resident (they are neutrally disposed towards each other and do not get in each other's way). She approaches humans with distance, but does not mind when they are nearby. She easily takes her medication from the hand, on a spoon. Sometimes she can be petted under the chin, but she doesn't allow more for now. She causes no problems at home, only scratches the scratching post, maintains cleanliness. She is quiet, spending most of the day in her basket by the radiator, from there she watches what the other housemates are doing. Despite being very small, she has an appetite for two. Dzidka needs a quiet home where she will have her own corner and a full bowl. With patience and respect for her boundaries, she will surely repay love in time. Dzidka had most of her teeth removed, which often causes her tongue to slip out, but it definitely adds to her charm. We are looking for a loving, caring home for Dzidka, one that does not go out, with a secured balcony and windows, that will surround her with the best care. Dzidka is a carrier of the feline leukemia virus - FELV, therefore we are looking for her home to be a single cat, or a companion for another cat that is a carrier of the leukemia virus or a cat that is regularly vaccinated against the virus. WARNING!

Dzidka przyjechała do fundacji z Chełmu, obecnie mieszka w domu tymczasowym i szuka Dzidka to przesłodka, ponad 7-letnia kotka, która przyjechała do nas w październiku. About Dzidka

What life with Dzidka looks like

Dzidka is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dzidka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dzidka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dzidka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dzidka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dzidka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dzidka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dzidka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
