Ebby

Female · Adult · 7 years

Ebby came to us because her previous owners could no longer meet her needs. Now we are looking for a home where she can feel at home and stay forever. At seven years old, Ebby is in a wonderful age: She is balanced but still full of drive. She is fit and active and enjoys shared activities with her humans. She repeatedly shows her funny and charming side and regularly brings smiles with her little clown character. Ebby is particularly people-oriented and friendly. She meets people openly, warmly and enjoys any form of attention and affection. With her charming way, she conquers hearts quickly. Ebby generally gets along well with other dogs and meets them politely and openly depending on her sympathy. Nevertheless, we see her more as a princess who doesn't necessarily have to share her home with another dog. She is very happy about suitable dog acquaintances and walks together, provided the chemistry is right. For Ebby, we are looking for experienced dog people who can convey calmness, clarity, confidence and security. She needs people who are ready to take responsibility and guide her lovingly but consistently. If Ebby feels she has to make decisions or manage situations herself, she becomes quickly insecure. In these moments, she clearly shows that she needs support. If she receives clear guidance, she aligns excellently with her human being and can relax. Ebby is a great companion for people who understand her needs and give her the security she needs. A assessment by the veterinary office is still pending for Ebby, which may classify her as a dog under § 3.

About Ebby

What life with Ebby looks like

Ebby is a adult dog waiting at Tierheim Velbert in Velbert.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ebby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ebby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Velbert handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ebby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ebby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Velbert will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ebby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ebby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Velbert early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ebby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
