Eddie (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Name Eddie Born December 2017 Gender male dog, neutered Breed mixed breed Size small/medium, approx. 40cm Foster home Eddie has made it and found his people. Here he can now be a prince and experience many wonderful adventures. The couch has already been conquered 😉 Often, the ages mentioned here are estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. On his foster home, he lives with two female dogs and various foster dogs. He shows excellent social behavior and does a great job as a foster puppy dad. He is initially afraid of large dogs but everything is okay once he knows them. He handles car rides well and can even jump into the car alone. With his dog buddies, he can stay alone at home for a few hours and is house-trained. Outside, he walks very calmly on a leash and can also run off-leash sometimes. He learns incredibly fast and it only takes a few training sessions for him to understand what the person wants. Eddie is an absolutely lively fellow who, although with some skepticism, masters everything new very well by the side of the people he trusts. A great buddy who will go through thick and thin with his people. Snuggle sessions are a must. He is friendly with people and happy to have visitors. However, he also has watch dog qualities, so we would not want to place him in a rental home. Cats should not necessarily live in his new home. He would not mind having a dog buddy, but he will also be rehomed as a single dog. We wish for Eddie a home in a more quiet area (so no city center). He gets along well with older children. Eddie is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and ticks, and he is negative for Mediterranean diseases. ————————————————————— If you are interested in this great dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. About Eddie (vermittelt)

What life with Eddie (vermittelt) looks like

Eddie (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eddie (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eddie (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eddie (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eddie (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eddie (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eddie (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eddie (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
