Eddy & Emil

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 10 months

Eddy and Emil are two roughly 6-month-old tomcats who came from an abandoned farm where there was no one left to look after them. As a result, they’re still quite wary of their surroundings and prefer to observe everything from a safe distance. The back area of their room is currently their safe space, from which they keep a watchful eye on everything. With fellow animals, however, they’re very open and take their cues from them. A friendly, playful companion in their new home could help them build trust more quickly and continue to grow. With enough time, patience, and loving affection, Eddy and Emil will gradually become more confident and trusting. They need people who can offer them the security they haven’t been able to experience so far and who meet them with understanding. The two are preferably rehomed together, but they can also be placed individually into a household that already has a sociable cat. We’re happy to work out what suits them best on a case-by-case basis in a personal adoption conversation. Whoever gives these two young tomcats the chance at a safe, loving home will be rewarded with a truly special transformation. We look forward to genuine inquiries.

DE·Show original

About Eddy & Emil

What life with Eddy & Emil looks like

Eddy & Emil is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierasyl Chemnitz in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eddy & Emil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eddy & Emil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierasyl Chemnitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eddy & Emil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eddy & Emil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierasyl Chemnitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eddy & Emil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eddy & Emil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierasyl Chemnitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eddy & Emil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
