Eddy

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 3 years

I am Eddy... and I came to the animal shelter because my owner unfortunately could no longer care for me due to health reasons. This is me: I am a sweet cat, but I need some time to gain trust. I am anxious and easily startled and therefore do not want to be rushed. If you approach me calmly, I will also show my affectionate side. New situations and people can initially unsettle me. That's why I am looking for people who will give me the time I need and let me come at my own pace. I am looking for... a quiet home with cat-experienced people without young children. I want to be able to burn off energy in outdoor walks after I have settled in. Would you like to meet me? Then please contact me via the inquiry form below or by phone at Garfield House 2 (daily 13-16 except Saturdays).

About Eddy

What life with Eddy looks like

Eddy is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Berlin in Berlin.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
