Edgar Allen Toe

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Edgar Allen Toe came into our care as a stray cat in poor condition. Our veterinary team discovered that Edgar had incredibly overgrown claws which were a source of pain and discomfort and caused a number of injured toes ( hence his name!). Our team also found he had a number of damaged teeth which we treated and he now has a very unique smile. If you are looking for a super affectionate and cuddly lap cat that please do consider Edgar, he has been a big hit in our cattery due to his sweet and gentle nature. He has been diagnosed with FIV which means he will need to live as an indoor cat. As he was previously a stray, he will need plenty of space and stimulation to replace the great outdoors. Edgar is a super fun cat who loves to play with his fishing rod toys so is after a fun and active home. Edgar also has some fun quirky features, he has a fun little heart shaped mark on his nose and a rather distinctive meow, he is honestly so lovely and is going to make such a super addition to a home. About Edgar Allen Toe

What life with Edgar Allen Toe looks like

Edgar Allen Toe is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Edgar Allen Toe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Edgar Allen Toe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Edgar Allen Toe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Edgar Allen Toe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Edgar Allen Toe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Edgar Allen Toe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Edgar Allen Toe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
