Edi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Name: Edi Location: Poland, Psia Ostoja Sex: male, neutered Breed: Mixed breed Age: approx. 2012 Size: approx. 35 cm The little senior Edi arrived at the shelter already with half of one ear. What happened to him is, of course, unknown. We feel, however, that it does nothing to diminish his charm and only makes him truly one of a kind. Edi is a calm dog who doesn't seem to know much about walking on a leash. Out on the leash he tends to be nervous, and you can tell he doesn't quite feel at ease. With a good harness and a bit of patience, though, he will surely soon come to enjoy little adventures with his people. In a run, on the other hand, he loves to be out and about, cheerful and active. A well-fenced garden would therefore be wonderful for him, so he can relax and happily make his rounds there. Edi is friendly and interested toward people and enjoys being petted. Edi is a bit selective with other dogs. He currently shares a kennel with one male and one female dog, but he doesn't like every fellow dog. In his new home, it would therefore be best not to have another dog waiting for him. Of course, Edi is vaccinated and microchipped.

About Edi

What life with Edi looks like

Edi is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe über Grenzen e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Edi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Edi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe über Grenzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Edi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Edi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe über Grenzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Edi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Edi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe über Grenzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Edi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
