Edie

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Senior · 11 years

Hello, I'm Edie... and I think I've earned a quiet, cosy retirement. A little while ago, I was found all alone as a stray. People thought I'd been in a traffic accident because I looked so sorry for myself, and I ended up being whisked off to the vets. Luckily, after lots of checks and kind hands looking after me, I was given the all clear. Physically, I'm just fine... now all I need is a family to mend my heart.I'm around 11 years old, and I have to say, I've become rather fond of the quieter things in life. A soft blanket, a warm lap, a gentle fuss behind the ears, and a sunny windowsill to snooze in, that sounds like absolute heaven to me.The people here keep calling me a sweetheart, and I do try my best to live up to that. I'm super affectionate and absolutely adore being close to my humans. If you're sitting down, don't be surprised if I decide your lap is the perfect place for a nap. I'll happily keep you company while you read, watch television, or enjoy a quiet afternoon at home. I don't need excitement, I just want to be near someone who loves me.I'd be happiest in a calm, peaceful home where I can spend my days relaxing and soaking up all the affection on offer. I don't think I'd enjoy living with dogs, but I could happily share my home with older, gentle children who understand that sometimes the best kind of friendship is simply sitting together quietly.I may be an older lady, but please don't overlook me because of that. I have so much love left to give and so many purrs left to share. All I'm wishing for is one special person or family who'll let me spend my golden years exactly as they should be, safe, cherished, and curled up somewhere cosy by their side. About Edie

What life with Edie looks like

Edie is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Edie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Edie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Edie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Edie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Edie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Edie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Edie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
