adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Eferhilda has found a home! Her story: Caution: Pup Alert. Eferhilda, Willy, Nugget, Bruce, Woody, and Sokje. Six adorable little pups are on the lookout for a home. The six were found more or less randomly at the edge of the forest in an abandoned house, where they were obviously abandoned. The little rascals were brought to safety and are currently being cared for by our dear animal rescuer Diana Larissa. At four months old, they are now ready to explore the big wide world and, most importantly, find their people where they can grow in love and security and spend the rest of their lives. They must not be raised in the shelter. All six are typical for their age, playful, and get along with dogs and cats. The little Eferhilda, who will probably grow to be medium-sized, has black fur and white paws with sassy black spots. She looks confidently into the camera with her pointed ears, perhaps because of her name. Eferhilda is an old English name meaning Bear or Warrior. Eferhilda is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of her and will show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn't be held against her, and Eferhilda should always be guided with a positive training style. She is looking forward to her new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos will turn the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Eferhilda is looking forward to your inquiry. She is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She can pack her EU pet passport at any time and embark on her great journey. Stand: 04.10. But also a foster home would be a stepping stone to a better future. Thank you, Shudata, for giving Eferhilda this quirky name and thus enabling the start of a happy dog life.

Stand: 04.10.2024

About Eferhilda

What life with Eferhilda looks like

Eferhilda is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eferhilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eferhilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eferhilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eferhilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eferhilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eferhilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eferhilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
