adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Eik has found a home! His story: This lively little windsock with two adorable dots on his nose is named Eik and he's fully winter-ready, at least on the outside, considering his snow-white fur with light beige highlights, which could make him look like a small polar bear. But for the brown ears that give away his winter camouflage, Eik wouldn't be a polar bear and wouldn't be made for surviving the icy and harsh winter outdoors. The small, approximately 42 cm tall, 14 kg, and about 1.5-year-old dream prince had a bit of luck and is waiting in a loving foster home for his permanent family. Eik is an absolute sweetheart who adores people and is simply cloyingly sweet. When he was found in the no-man's-land between two villages, it became clear to us that Eik was likely not abandoned but had run away. Unfortunately, he was not microchipped, so we were unable to find his original home despite our efforts. As mentioned at the beginning, Eik is a big people person and gets along well with cats and dogs in his foster home. Due to his open nature, we assume that Eik will quickly adapt to his new family. He likely has some catch-up to do when it comes to learning the basics of being a house dog, and despite his charming nature, he is not yet a perfectly trained dog. Much of what is normal for us will be a first for Eik, and the possibility of a little mishap here and there is realistic. With patience, empathy, a loving attitude, and clear structures, Eik will step by step become an integral and unforgettable family member, and his charm will win a place in your hearts. We can imagine that a visit to a positively working dog training class could support your development and the cohesion of all involved and bring out hidden talents. Eik seems to be a dog who loves to experience adventures with his people. As long as it's together! Are you looking for an active team player who likes to run with you and the wind through his chocolate-earflaps and can be lured off your couch with play and fun? Do you have a warm spot for Eik where he can snuggle and dream the day away with you? Please contact us quickly so that Eik can make the journey to you. Eik is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his own EU pet passport and can travel after a positive foster home for the dream boy would also make us very happy! Many thanks, dear Gritt, for giving Eik his quirky name. Thanks to your namingsponsorship, Eik has an identity and a place on our homepage. As of: 23.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 23.01.2026

About Eik

What life with Eik looks like

Eik is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
