Eleni

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Background / previous History: In October 2025, Eleni was supposed to be euthanized. However, she met the people who had come for the euthanasia with so much kindness and joy that the caretaker at the city animal shelter (Ansung) couldn't bring himself to go through with it. Instead, he asked Brown Angel for help to save Eleni. Character description: Eleni is a very people-oriented female dog who loves contact with humans. She genuinely enjoys attention and thoroughly enjoys every petting. Proximity, affection, and quiet moments with people give her visible security and joy. Since early December 2025, Eleni has been gently introduced to life in a dog group. Initially, she showed little interest in other animals, but over time she has become noticeably more relaxed. She is now beginning to open up to individual dogs, approaching familiar dogs with friendly, increasingly cheerful energy and even initiating play on her own. If another dog does not accept her approach, she can be well guided by humans and practices staying calm and composed. Eleni is generally a dog that avoids conflicts. In tense situations, she prefers to withdraw and yield rather than seek a fight. Her mammary glands were greatly enlarged and hung so low that they significantly impaired her walking. Therefore, during the spaying at Brown Angel, part of the milk line was also removed to make it easier for her to walk. Although some loose skin remains, overall Eleni is now much better than before, and she can move noticeably more freely and without burden. She is currently being treated for heartworms. The treatment is proceeding smoothly and can be completed in a few months.🐾 Eleni is a gentle, people-loving female dog with a calm nature and a big heart. She is looking for a loving home where she can finally arrive and receive the care she has missed for so many years. This animal is vaccinated.

About Eleni

What life with Eleni looks like

Eleni is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eleni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eleni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eleni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eleni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eleni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eleni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eleni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
