adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Our Elin is still waiting. It's almost 3 years since this beautiful lady and her siblings were found and came into our care. Although Elin had the good fortune to spend her youth and puberty in a loving foster home in Romania, she had to leave again and now lives with her sister Cindy in a private shelter in Fantanele. She has been behind bars for years now— and Elin has lost her luster. She retreats to her doghouse and hardly wants to leave the run anymore. Her runmates come and go, but for Elin no home has been found yet. When she does come out, however, Elin shows how much potential she has. She runs beautifully on the leash, orienting herself well to a person and enjoying the much too rare walks. Despite her rather dreary life behind bars, Elin can be handled without problems, even if she doesn't always enjoy it. We wish for Elin people who will give her back the courage, hope, and self-confidence for a new life. Even a foster home would already be a great blessing for Elin—she desperately needs a glimmer of hope that shows her that she deserves to be loved. An ideal home in a rural area with a large, securely fenced garden would be perfect for Elin. She would be happy about dog friendships that help her regain trust. Since Elin has hardly had any training so far, a visit to dog training classes where positive reinforcement is used—ideally with experience in working with herding dogs—is highly recommended. The association is happy to help in the search for a suitable school with its large network. Elin is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She travels with an EU pet passport upon positive adoption. Who will give Elin a loving home and show her how wonderful life can be? Many thanks to Marina J., who gave Elin her beautiful name. A big thank you also goes to Sabine B., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Elin. As of: 10.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Elin

What life with Elin looks like

Elin is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
