Therefore, it is especially important to approach Elio with calmness and empathy, respect his body language, and give him enough space. He should be allowed to decide when he ventures out of his safe retreat and how much closeness he wants to allow. Pressure and forced closeness would only make him more insecure. We are looking for a quiet home for Elio with patient, understanding people who ideally already have experience with anxious cats. A stress-free environment, fixed routines, and safe retreats will help him settle in and gradually build trust. Elio is not a cat that needs to immediately approach people. He needs people who accept him as he is and give him the time he needs. Those who engage with him can accompany him in gradually letting go of his insecurity and arriving at his own pace.
