Adopt Ellen

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

mixed breed (Jack Russell/Fox Terrier) is still growing, expected to be 40 – 45 cm Ellen comes from poor husbandry. Her mother, Mary Poppins, arrived at TordasZoo too thin, as they lived in a barn with little to eat. A male dog, Fixi Foxi, was likely the father. Ellen is one of eight puppies from the Mary Poppins family. The mother was initially very shy. Fortunately, her fears did not transfer to the puppies. Ellen is people-oriented, open, and loving. She runs up to other dogs, whether male or female, with enthusiasm and greets them very friendly. Ellen is a chirpy, active, and loving Fox Terrier Jack Russell mix girl. Whether she develops a clear prey drive is still unknown, but it is breed-related and likely. Therefore, the prey drive should not be encouraged, and chasing insects, leaves, balls, and the like should be consistently discouraged from the start. Ellen now needs her own family and looks forward to active people who will explore the world with her. All our dogs are vaccinated and microchipped with an EU pet passport. They are only placed after a positive assessment. If you are interested in a sponsorship, foster home, or adoption, please click here: I am interested. This slideshow requires JavaScript.

About Ellen

What life with Ellen looks like

Ellen is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. in Linden.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
