ELLIE

Female · Adult · 5 years

Ellie - Female Dog - Seeking Her Second Chance - Female, born approximately January 2023, SH approximately 50 cm, spayed, vaccinated, chipped, EU passport. - Waiting in Romania! - Ellie is one of the many unwanted puppies in Romania that are simply abandoned and left to fend for themselves on the outskirts of the city. Ellie and her siblings were found on a field at about 2 months old and experienced their first big happiness when they were allowed to move in with one of our tireless animal rescuers. There, Ellie developed into a friendly and cheerful girl. With all the big and small dogs at her lifesaver, she gets along well, because she has already learned how to behave with dogs there. Ellie is a playful puppy and loves water. She likes to spend time in the summer in the on-site pond. In the meantime, Ellie has also learned to walk on a leash. Unfortunately, her foster mother has too little time for it, so Ellie lives most of the time on the property and still has a lot to learn. Ellie is curious and interested in everything, but she needs a little time to get used to new people. For Ellie, it is now high time to discover the world, at least a small part of it. She longs for her own home full of love, warmth and protection - her second chance. Who can fulfill Ellie's wish? We are looking for a dog-experienced, loving and patient home with a house and garden in a rural area for Ellie - preferably with a confident first dog (no condition). Also a foster home is welcome. A test for babesiose, borreliosis, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis will be carried out before departure. Ellie is still in Romania. - Expenses will be covered.

Hundedame - ELLIE - sucht ihr zweites Glück - Hündin, geb. ca. 01/2023, SH ca. 50 cm, kastriert, geimpft, gechipt, EU-Paß. - Wartet in Rumänien !

About ELLIE

What life with ELLIE looks like

ELLIE is a large adult dog waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting ELLIE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ELLIE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ELLIE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ELLIE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ELLIE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ELLIE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know ELLIE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
