Ellie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Ellie (approx. 35cm - growing) The young Ellie was found completely alone on a busy street and found her way to our partner animal shelter in Igoumenitsa. Since dogs are often abandoned at this location, it is likely that Ellie was also left there to her fate. The more astonishing is how open, friendly and people-oriented she is. We can't say where she originally comes from. - Ellie is a true optimist who enjoys every attention. It is really hard to take her picture as she is always in motion. She can't get enough of petting and she greets every person with great joy. She can be easily lifted, touched everywhere and her little tail seems to wag uninterruptedly as soon as someone is playing with her. The more saddening is that this sweet puppy has to spend her important socialization time behind the animal shelter bars. - - We wish Ellie an active home where she can finally discover the world. A first dog would certainly not be a problem and could even provide her with valuable orientation. In her, a hunting dog is probably also hidden, which is why her future family ideally already has experience with hunting dogs or is willing to deal intensively with this topic and attend a dog school together with Ellie. Ellie's parents are unknown to us. Since she came to us as a found dog, we unfortunately can't give a reliable statement about the contained breeds or her later final size. Based on her current body structure and development, we assume that she will be at least medium-sized (+50 cm), possibly even a bit larger. However, this is only an estimate and no guarantee. - We don't know what experiences Ellie has had so far. Nevertheless, we are convinced that she will quickly learn how beautiful life in a home of her own can be with loving guidance, patience and understanding. Since her parents are unknown to us, we can't estimate her final size. Currently, she shows herself as a very slender and delicate young female. We can imagine children in the shared household with Ellie, but Ellie is a puppy-typical exuberant and contact should always take place under the supervision of the parents. Who gives this charming little mouse the chance for a happy dog life full of security, love and joint adventures? We will send videos on request. Adopting a puppy means taking a lot of time. Please only apply if you really meet the requirements for a proper acclimatization and upbringing time. We can't confirm or exclude compatibility with cats. Ellie travels vaccinated, with identification chip and EU pet passport. Due to her age, she is not neutered yet. If you rent, you must provide us with a written confirmation from the landlord that keeping a dog is really allowed. This should be available to the interested party before an inquiry. Ellie is still in the animal shelter in Greece and can travel to Germany or Switzerland after a positive pre-control. All our dogs travel with adapted safety harnesses! We would like to point out that all our animal welfare dogs, of whose history we often know little or nothing, are directly placed with their families from the rescue stations. Above all in the beginning, they therefore need a lot of time and patience. The animals are usually not house-trained, can't walk on a leash and don't know any commands. In addition, they are sometimes shy or startled at first. Are you interested in this dog? Then click on this link to go directly to the adoption form.

About Ellie

What life with Ellie looks like

Ellie is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
