Ellis

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Ellis is a beautiful grey-and-white young cat who has already been through more than she should have. She was rescued after being trapped for days inside a warehouse and taken straight to the vet. Originally, Ellis was meant to be spayed and returned to her colony, but skin problems meant she needed longer care and time to heal. After a month in foster care, she is now fully healthy and enjoying life alongside other cats. She gets along fine with them and definitely needs cat-company, as she is very afraid of human touch. Ellis can be a little shy when she first meets people, but once she feels safe, her gentle and loving nature shines through. Now that she’s well and ready, she’s looking for a calm, caring home where she can finally settle and feel secure. Subscribe for stories from Athens’ street cats, straight to your inbox. About Ellis

What life with Ellis looks like

Ellis is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at Nine Lives Greece in Greece.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nine Lives Greece handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nine Lives Greece will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ellis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nine Lives Greece early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
