adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Elpis can stay forever! His story: After a bumpy start to life, our Elpis is now searching for a warm dog bed and people who won't expect much from him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a young pup and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a little mishap shouldn't be held against him and Elpis should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggle hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" much of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently—but lovingly—educate them. And there is also good news: This phase will pass. Elpis is about 11 months old. He lived with his siblings, but now all have found homes, only the wonderful Elpis has not. Elpis is compatible with fellow animals and even cats are no problem. He behaves unobtrusively but very friendly and open towards people. We wish for Elpis a loving family that will give him the time to find his way in new situations and support him with all the new challenges. Then Elpis will grow into a confident and loyal dog and be a faithful companion to his family in all situations. Elpis is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive assessment. Who will give Elpis a chance at a normal dog life away from the confines, hunger, and cold? Many thanks to Nadja I.! You have given Elpis his name! Date: 01.08. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Nadja I.! Du hast Elpis seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 01.08.2024

About Elpis

What life with Elpis looks like

Elpis is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elpis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elpis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elpis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elpis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elpis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elpis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elpis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
