Elvis

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

Elvis arrived at our shelter in 2023 as a 5-year-old dog, but now he’s around 8 years old, though he still acts like a teenager. 🤪 For a long time, he didn’t want to go on walks. Only recently, thanks to working with him, he’s started making progress and has even mustered the courage to go out a few times. 🦮 He’s smart and friendly, but he can quickly “get on someone’s nerves,” so we’re looking for a person who won’t let him do that and who will be patient in building trust with him and clearly establishing rules. He’s started walking nicely on a leash, has learned the commands “paw” and “sit.” In the middle of a walk, he sometimes gets dizzy – he can’t be allowed to do that. He can also cleverly grab the leash with his front paws and block further movement. He’s not a typical fearful dog, but he still has a few ingrained, improper habits that we’re working on. He shows no aggression toward people. On walks, he’s generally confident. He’s beginning to work on treats, though treats are still not his most important reward. He responds well to corrections on the leash and is also learning to take breaks during walks. He’s getting better at passing by people, dogs, and cars. In situations where he feels unsure, it’s best to avoid the trigger with a detour or to stop and wait a moment. He’s beginning to respond to clapping. There are also moments when he seeks contact with a person and craves being petted—but only when he trusts someone. He’s a medium-sized dog with a neutral attitude toward other dogs. 🐶 We’re looking for an experienced home that can work with dogs like Elvis. Elvis isn’t an easy case, and you need to be aware of that, but once he trusts you, he starts showing his truly wonderful character! 🏡 📍 Elvis is in the Canis Homeless Animal Shelter in Kruszewie – about 100 km from Warsaw and Białystok. 🦴 You can visit him on weekends at the shelter and take him on a trial walk!

PL·Show original

🦴 Można go odwiedzić w każdy weekend w godzinach i zabrać na zapoznawczy spacer! 📞 Kontakt w sprawie adopcji lub więcej informacji: 502 750 530 Nie możesz adoptować? About Elvis

What life with Elvis looks like

Elvis is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elvis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elvis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elvis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elvis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elvis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elvis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elvis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
