Emil

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Male · Adult · 4 years

Breed: Cavalier-Spaniel mixed-breed male dog Age: born around 08/2021 Hello there... I’m Emil – a charming Cavalier-Spaniel mix in the prime of my life… With my handy 37 cm, I fit perfectly on your sofa… or even better: straight into your heart!! I am a rather calm enjoyer who loves the good things in life – cozy walks, relaxed cuddle sessions, and just being there, that would be my greatest happiness… My caretakers describe me as especially loving, friendly, and absolutely compatible with other dogs. Conflict? Not my thing! I’m more of a “peace and treats for everyone” type… I am already familiar with house life, as I got to live in a foster home for a short time, and I know how to behave… Car rides are no problem for me either – I’m happy to accompany you wherever you go… And if you ever have to leave without me for a bit: don’t worry, I can stay alone once in a while… Currently, I live at the animal shelter and wait there for my people who will show me how wonderful a real home can be… I have a little something special: I have a heart murmur and receive regular medication for it… But don’t worry – that doesn’t stop me from enjoying life to the fullest! I am just as joyful and full of life as any other dog… I am a stray, so where I come from and what I’ve experienced will likely remain a mystery… If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will fill your life with lots of love, then I might just be your Emil… So, have you fallen a little bit in love with me??? Then write to me quickly, my mediators are very friendly and will explain how we can find each other… Before I travel to my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Anyone interested in adopting me should contact my mediators.

About Emil

What life with Emil looks like

Emil is a small adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
