Adopt Emil

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Breed: Widdermix-Zwergkaninchen Gender: male, neutered on January 20, 2026. Emil may safely approach females from March 3 onwards. Date of birth: September 2025 Appearance: Emils fur is beautifully patterned in white and red. On his neck, he has a bunch of longer hairs. His ears stand halfway up, but it could be that he ends up with drop ears. Reason for being at the animal shelter: We took Emil from another animal shelter that could not accommodate the many rabbits. Health: No noticeable issues. Personality: Emil is a charming, very young fluffer with a lot of energy. He is cheerful and carefree. In his young life, he has not yet had any bad experiences and has no fear of people. Of course, he has not yet learned much and is therefore more cautious when something seems dangerous to him. But usually, curiosity wins. The sweet button would be overjoyed in its new home with a similarly young, long-eared friend, with whom he could flit through the apartment every day. General husbandry information: Rabbits are social animals and must therefore be kept at least in pairs. We discourage single housing. Our neutered male rabbits are looking for a female rabbit, our female rabbits for a neutered male rabbit as a partner. Generally, rabbits of approximately the same age usually fit each other best: young rabbits usually have much more temperament and energy, while older ones need more rest. Rabbits do not like to spend their time in a cage. They want to hop around as much as possible in the apartment. It is best if they have a large floor pen or their own room. As a retreat option, they need a wooden house or cardboard boxes. The most important food for rabbits is hay, hay, and more hay. Only by grinding hay can they wear their teeth down as nature intended. In addition, a daily ration of fresh food (vegetables, but no or very little fruit) is important. Fresh water should always be available. Dry food should only be offered sparingly or as a treat. Nibbles, crackers, and similar are marketing gimmicks by food manufacturers and are more harmful to the rabbit. For inquiries and advice:

Rasse: Widdermix-Zwergkaninchen Geschlecht: männlich, kastriert am 20. Januar 2026. About Emil

What life with Emil looks like

Emil is a large young adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierheim Feucht in Feucht.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Feucht handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Feucht will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Feucht early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
