Emilie

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Emilie, born in 2019 and about 50 cm tall, lives at the Campurelu shelter and shares her enclosure with male dog Milo, who is just as reserved as she is. The two get along harmoniously. Emilie is initially cautious around strangers. With patience and a gentle approach, however, she can be coaxed out of her protective shelter. First her head appears hesitantly, then her neck, and finally she steps out paw by paw – and there she stands, attentive and beautiful. Emilie accepts treats carefully and shows that she is certainly curious. For her next chapter she needs experienced, patient, and empathetic people who give her time to build trust. Whether as a foster home or forever: whoever lets Emilie settle in peacefully will be rewarded with a gentle companion who wants to explore her world slowly but surely. Emilie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-screening. General note about our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can reassess their behavior and development again and again. These personal impressions help us greatly in presenting each individual dog as accurately as possible. However, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment – with new people, new routines, and new impressions – may show a different side of itself. This is completely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations but are not a guarantee of every behavior in a new setting. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential it has. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

Freue dich auf alles was da kommt!

About Emilie

What life with Emilie looks like

Emilie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emilie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emilie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emilie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emilie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Emilie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emilie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emilie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
