Adopt Emily

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Emily is a very sweet Akbash puppy, born from an extraordinary mother who protected and raised her with love along with her brothers. The mother, who is still with us, gave them all the strength and care possible, and today Emily is a wonderful little dog, ready to discover the world, although with a bit of shyness. Of her litter, consisting of five brothers, only Elio has found a family. Emily remains with Elliot, Elvis, and Elisa, who still share the deep bond created during their first months of life. Emily is an example of balance and sweetness: she carefully observes those who approach her, and once she feels safe, she is ready to give her affection with all her heart. Thanks to the presence of the mother, Emily has learned what it means to be part of a family. However, she has not yet had enough experiences outside the animal shelter and, for this reason, approaches new things with delicacy. With a knowledgeable and loving family, Emily will be able to grow up confident and become a loving and extraordinary companion. We propose a sponsorship for Emily, which will help us ensure that she and her brothers receive all the necessary care while they wait for their opportunity to find a welcoming home. Supporting Emily means offering a bright future to a special puppy, raised with love and ready to discover it in the world. Do you want to be part of her story? Give a home and a second chance to a heart full of love that is waiting only for you!

Read original (it)

About Emily

What life with Emily looks like

Emily is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Associazione Cani Liberi - Rifugio Canalba in Alba Adriatica TE.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emily, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emily?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione Cani Liberi - Rifugio Canalba handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emily on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emily if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione Cani Liberi - Rifugio Canalba will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emily already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emily isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione Cani Liberi - Rifugio Canalba early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emily and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
