Emma

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

♀, born ca. 1/2025 human age - friendly -socialin Bulgarien Vermittlungshilfe Emma is a ca. 1.5-year-old mixed-breed female German Drahthaar Griffon with a shoulder height of ca. 56 cm. Emma was ejected from her Bulgarian owners because she did not, as requested, want to hunt. In response, the pretty female dog was set free and left to fend for herself. Neighbors lured the emaciated female dog with food onto their property, which Emma gratefully and with great joy accepted. The private animal rescuer was informed and took Emma in. Emma is currently being fed up, as she is still very thin. She is a very friendly female dog who joyfully welcomes every person and is very happy about any attention and affection. Emma must still learn the dog 1-1-1 command. Whether she can stay alone, is house-trained, and already walks well on a leash... that cannot be assumed. But with patience, positive reinforcement, the right motivation, and support, Emma will learn that quickly. Of course, the cuddle sessions she has been deprived of must not be lacking. Emma will also surely be happy about a social-only dog to which she can orient herself and learn how to live together. She gets along very well with her fellow animals and has a friendly interaction with them. Unfortunately, she is being doted on in the foster home by the others and must be separated for her protection. This causes Emma great suffering, as she is such a great team player. Emma is an active dog who does not want to live in the city. A house, especially with a garden, would be ideal for her. We are looking for people who like to move themselves daily, perhaps going jogging with Emma later. People who can keep her both physically and mentally stimulated. Dog beginners should attend dog training classes with Emma to avoid being overwhelmed by her energy and learn together. Emma is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and has already been tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. She is in a private foster home in Bulgaria and can be rehomed after a positive adoption. The adoption fee for Emma is 480 Euro. Do you have a suitable home for Emma? Then please contact us via the following contact form. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix.

About Emma

What life with Emma looks like

Emma is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
